One Day Retreat – Offering Our Faith
Thursday – Jun 4 | 09:00 – 20:45h (in-person)
Buddha’s Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day
June 4 marks the anniversary of Buddha’s first teaching in this world and also the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union.
Forty-nine days after Buddha attained enlightenment, as a result of requests, he rose from meditation and taught the first Wheel of Dharma. To commemorate this special day, Kadampa Buddhist centers around the world hold special events with prayers for Buddha’s teachings to flourish in this world for a very long time.
Every day we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe-la, our root Guru and founder of the New Kadampa Tradition.
But on the auspicious day June 4, Venerable Geshe-la’s birthday and Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day, at Kadampa centres around the world, with minds of rejoicing and gratitude, we offer him our faith through using the special prayer Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from his Faithful Disciples and collecting our Guru’s name mantra in a one-day retreat.
Everyone is welcome to join in.
We conclude the day with a special puja (chanted prayer) Offering to the Spiritual Guide from 7-8.45pm.
